Hawkins focuses on the individual, whether they be a nascent or aspiring artist. The culture at Hawkins promotes a constructive and positive learning environment. Each student is assumed to be unique, and our teachers take the time to understand and adapt time-tested teaching principles to uncover a student's passion and garner their potential.​​​

Performers who are cast in the nutcracker will be assessed a one time production free :​

$150 for ensemble roles
$200 for lead roles

​

What to bring to auditions:

• Female-identifying students: a solid-colored leotard, flesh-colored or pink tights (students should choose the color which is closest to their natural skin tone or the color in which they feel most comfortable), and technique shoes. Students en pointe should also bring pointe shoes to the audition. Technique and pointe shoes should align with the color of the tights.

• Male-identifying students: short-sleeved white leotard or a white fitted dance t-shirt; black or gray tights, White thin plain ankle socks, technique shoes.

• Adults should wear attire that allows for freedom of movement without obscuring the body's silhouette or apply the previous options above.​

What to Expect at the Auditions:

At auditions, attendees will be evaluated on technique and stage presence. Attendees are joining our production, not accepting a specific role in the show. Every role, performance, costume piece and smile make our productions such an amazing experience. There will be a $25 audition fee charged upon registration.

Rehearsals:

The performers' attendance and participation in rehearsals is critical to the success of the show. The actual rehearsal schedule of the production is dynamic, and at times the directors will need to make adjustments to the schedule. Every effort will be made to post changes in a timely manner.

• Most rehearsals will be on Saturdays and Sundays starting on 8/30 and ending on 11/22. No earlier than 10:00am and no later than 5:30pm. No rehearsal block will be longer than 2 hours, though some performers may be cast in multiple parts, with the exception of Studio dress rehearsal and Tech rehearsals held at the theater.
