HAWKINS SHOWCASE

Students enrolled in dance, musical theater, acrobatics and vocals classes have the opportunity to work with their teachers and choreographers to bring a showpiece to the stage.

Taking the Class

to the Stage

Students of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to perform in a real theater with a live audience

Typically, Hawkins Showcase is held in multiple shows at the Jill Solberg Performing Arts Center at the conclusion of the school season in mid-June.  In 2021, the shows will be performed on the Hawkins Outdoor Performance Stage.  Prior to general public sales, tickets are allocated and available to families.  Individual and group photos, as well as performance videos may be offered as well.

Hawkins Performing Companies & Troupes

For a more serious dancer or performer, Hawkins Companies and Troupes combine more advanced technique, choreography and time commitment, and offer additional performance opportunities.  They have their own audition process, and additional classes dedicated to their artistic development.   For the 2020-2021 season, Hawkins will have the following:

Hawkins Classical and Contemporary Ballet Company

Hawkins Contemporary Jazz Company

Hawkins Musical Theatre/Tap Company

Ballet Troupes

Jazz Troupes

Tap Troupe

Adrenaline Rush Hip Hop Troupe

Delayed Reaction Hip Hop Troupe

Parade Troupe

Auditions typically are held in the Spring for the following season.   Auditions for the 2021-2022 season have completed, but interested students or parents are always encouraged to contact the artistic directors regarding the process or performance opportunities.

Pre-Professional Opportunity

While all the companies offer advanced-level training and performances, the Hawkins Contemporary Jazz Company (HCJC) also offers a pre-professional track where dancers have unique opportunities to work outside Hawkins with industry professionals and the Sacramento Contemporary Dance Company (SCDT).  The Pre-Professional level has an additional set of audition requirements and is reserved for those who demonstrate technical and artistic competence, as well as an additional commitment.
