HAWKINS SHOWCASE
Students enrolled in dance, musical theater, acrobatics and vocals classes have the opportunity to work with their teachers and choreographers to bring a showpiece to the stage.
Typically, Hawkins Showcase is held in 7 shows at the Jill Solberg Performing Arts Center at the conclusion of the school season in mid-June. Prior to general public sales, tickets are allocated and available to families. Individual and group photos are taken by staff photographer Tony Nguyen, and performance video are made available by Nick Sharples Productions.
Hawkins Performing Companies & Troupes
For a more serious dancer or performer, Hawkins Companies and Troupes combine more advanced technique, choreography and time commitment, and offer additional performance opportunities. They have their own audition process, and additional classes dedicated to their artistic development. For the 2020-2021 season, Hawkins will have the following:
Hawkins Classical and Contemporary Ballet Company
Hawkins Contemporary Jazz Company
Hawkins Tap Company
Ballet Troupes
Jazz Troupes
Tap Troupe
Modern Dance (MODt) Troupe
Adrenaline Rush Hip Hop Troupe
Delayed Reaction Hip Hop Troupe
Musical Theater Troupe
Parade Troupe
Auditions typically are held in the Spring for the following season. If you have additional questions or inquiries please contact the appropriate artistic director of the specific company or troupe.
Pre-Professional Opportunity
While all the companies offer advanced-level training and performances, the Hawkins Contemporary Jazz Company (HCJC) also offers a pre-professional track where dancers have unique opportunities to work outside Hawkins with industry professionals and the Sacramento Contemporary Dance Company (SCDT). The Pre-Professional level has an additional set of audition requirements and is reserved for those who demonstrate technical and artistic competence, as well as an additional commitment.
