Jillian Owens
Tap
Jillian grew up dancing at Broadway Academy in Carmichael, performing in select roles with the Sacramento Ballet and was selected for Music Circus’ advanced summer master class series before heading to New York at 17 to pursue musical theater at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (Collaborative Arts Project 21). After achieving her BFA there in three years (with honors), she performed extensively in New York, on tour across the country and abroad. Some of her favorite experiences include tapping for acclaimed director/choreographer Susan Stroman on the first national tour of the Broadway musical YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN and working with esteemed choreographer Bill T. Jones on multiple workshops of the new Broadway musical SUPERFLY. She’s also performed at The Kennedy Center in DC (as a swing in the musical CARNIVAL!), on numerous regional and touring musicals, and Okinawa Air Base in Japan among other venues, as well as in countless kicklines and industrial performances. Having recently moved back to Northern California, she’s enjoying performing in both musical and non-musical endeavors (among other local roles, starring as Beatrice in William Shakespeare’s MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and Maureen in Martin McDonagh’s terrifying THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE both at Big Idea Theater) as well as teaching ballet, musical theater and tap to all ages. She currently lives in Sacramento with her husband Christopher, son Colin and two adorable poodle-mix dogs (Buckley and Marshall).
