SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE

Join us for an exciting summer of dance with four-day intensives in the styles of Contemporary, Ballet, Tap/Musical Theater and Hip Hop taught by special guest professionals from throughout the country!  

 

For Intermediate and Advanced Students ages 12 years and up

Monday through Thursday

10:00 - 11:30 and 11:45 - 1:15

WREN

Wren Crisologo has danced on various art and entertainment platforms ranging from collegiate dance competitions to national television. After earning a degree in Theatre and Dance at Sacramento State University, he has developed and refined a unique dance philosophy that capitalizes on groove, texture, and isolation.

MATT

Matt Hiabu has been dancing since 2009. Having found a deep love for hip hop culture and music he developed his skills in freestyle and choreography from the Sacramento dance scene. Matt has performed in collegiate dance competitions to national television.

WEY

Anthony Wey has always had an interest in technical movement. With a background in popping, he has been a dance educator and choreographer since 2014. In 2018, he began training in litefeet, a style he felt would broaden his vocabulary in a way that compliments his personality. Currently on Black Flag, Anthony continues to develop his creativity through freestyle and choreography.

MICHAEL

Michael Ringgold is a creative aiming to merge the boundaries between dance styles and other art forms. The approach behind his movement and personal style is more philosophical rather than technical, focusing on “flow” and allowing the music to lead movement. Michael's strengths lies in his ability to bring characters to life, groove, and create conversation through movement.

LANCE

Lance Casey, II started dancing in 2013 with his high school dance company, Soul Purpose, where his passion for dance was born. He began to study all types of dance styles including Jazz, House, Ballet, Krump, and Dunham technique. In 2019, Lance started immersing himself in House music culture, and he decided to make House his primary style of dance.

SAM WEBER

Sam Weber is an award winning artist who has gained a global reputation in the world of tap dance and is in demand internationally as a performer, master teacher and choreographer.  He was the first tap dancer to receive New York’s “Bessie” award for outstanding artistic achievement, and the recipient of numerous other tap dance awards.  Sam has taught and performed with such legendary tap masters as Charles “Honi” Coles, Jimmy Slyde, Steve Condos, Buster Brown, and Gregory Hines and currently teaches at ODC Dance Commons.

ABIGAIL COWAN

Abigail was featured in the national tour of “Tappin’ Thru Life” starring Maurice Hines.  She has been dancing since the age of 2 1/2 and currently studies on full scholarship at Point Park University as a dance major at the professional level in tap, ballet, modern, and jazz.  Abigail has received multiple scholarships for dedication and achievement in the performing arts, which has allowed her to train at numerous programs such as the Grier School, Pennsylvania Ballet, and the Broadway Dreams Foundation.

KATHRYN SMITH-MCGLYNN

Kathryn is an actor, director, producer, scholar and published author whose creative work spans film, theatre, television, video games and new media. She can currently be seen as ‘Jen’ in the film feature BEAUTIFUL DREAMER which was a 2020 SFFILM selection. Her
television credits include roles on DEPUTY (FOX), Better Call Saul (AMC),  and Grey’s Anatomy (ABC), as well as numerous stage credits.  Her complete bio can be found at:

MAGGIE ELIZABETH MAY

Maggie grew up performing in Sacramento with many professional, college, community, and
children’s theatres in the city, including Broadway at Music Circus, Sacramento Theatre
Company, CSU and River City Theatre Company.  She received her Post-Graduate Diploma and the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music's teaching qualification for Voice, Singing, Acting, and Acting through Song.  She has since performed across the globe and is thrilled to share her experiences with the next generation of performers

Kevin Murdock-Waters

An alumnus of Hawkins, Kevin trained with the San Francisco Ballet for 6 years, then joined ballet Austin II, and later the professional company.  He has been featured in many roles including Mercutio (Romeo & Juliet) and the Dodo Bird (Alice in Wonderland), as well as worked with Austin-based company Performa/ Dance.  His complete bio can be found at Ballet Austin Company Dancers - Kevin Murdock-Waters

Norbert de la Cruz III

Choreographer. Dancer. Educator. Melissa "MJ" Jackson

MJ earned a BFA in dance with  concentrations in choreography and performance. She has worked with Beyoncé  on multiple projects such as "Run the World(girls)" and billboard award performance. She is currently on faculty with Revive dance convention and Principles summer program.  Her choreography has been featured at Dancing Under the Stars festival in Palm Springs, as well as the Joyce Theater.

Jason Ambrose

Jason is an alumnus of the Ellison Ballet Professional Training Program where he was mentored by former San Francisco Ballet Soloist Edward Ellison. He later attended the St. Petersburg Conservatory Ballet Master and Choreographers Degree program and danced with the Ballet Theatre of the St. Petersburg Conservatoire.  Jason currently Artist in Residence at Elite Classical Coaching and full-time staff at San Francisco Ballet School.  Jason Ambrose SF Ballet
